How accurate are our mock scores?
A mock score is only useful if it is close to the real one. Here is how fullmock works out your bands, and how close they come to official TOEFL scores, measured with real results and updated automatically.
Compared with official TOEFL scores
Students who sit the real TOEFL iBT can report the scores on their official score report. We compare them with their last full mock on fullmock, if it was taken within 45 days before the test. Reports that are obviously wrong are set aside. Nothing identifies a student.
We are collecting data: 0 of 50 comparisons so far. The averages are published here once there are 50, so that a handful of results cannot mislead you.
Writing and Speaking compared with human raters
Experienced raters score Writing and Speaking answers against the same task rubrics. Their bands come from our calibration set and from the human reviews students ask for. For each answer we compare their band with ours.
Writing: collecting data, 0 of 20 rated answers so far.
Speaking: collecting data, 0 of 20 rated answers so far.
How your mock is scored
Reading and Listening are scored from your answers. As in the real test, your first module decides whether the second one is harder or easier, and the harder route can reach higher bands.
Writing and Speaking responses are rated against the criteria of the official task rubrics: task completion, development, language and, for speaking, delivery. Build a Sentence and Listen and Repeat are checked automatically.
Each section gets a band from 1 to 6 in half-band steps. The overall band is the average of the four, rounded to the nearest half band, the way ETS does it.
Next to the bands, reports show the comparable score on the old 0–120 and 0–30 scales, from ETS's comparison table (see the score converter). Open the score converter
What we aim for
Our target is an average difference of half a band or less from official scores in every section. Where we are further off, we change how that section is scored and keep measuring.
What a mock score is not
A mock score is an estimate, not an official TOEFL score. Your result on the day also depends on the test form, your nerves and how you prepare in the last weeks. Use it to see where you stand and what to work on.
